IMP-07 · General settings
Administration → General settings holds the facility-wide switches. Most have safe defaults. Check the ones that change what staff see and when things are due.
Steps
1. Date, time and locale
Check Timezone (Africa/Lagos for Nigeria), Date format, Time format, Week starts on, Language / locale, Currency, Drug catalogue jurisdiction and Default appointment length. Every "due at", appointment slot and shift boundary uses the facility timezone.

2. Clinic hours and closures
Under Appointment scheduling hours, tick Enforce hours, set opening and closing times per day (or Closed), and under Holiday and closure dates add each public holiday with a Closure date and Closure label (e.g. 1 October — Independence Day). Then Save general settings.

You should see, when the front desk tries to book on a closure day: "The facility is closed on 2026-10-01 (Independence Day)."

3. Currency
Currency is the money the facility bills in: every new price, bill, deposit and cash float. The list starts with the currencies of the regions Verabase serves (naira, cedi, shillings, rand, CFA francs…), then the majors. Each currency keeps its own decimal places: two for naira and cedi, none for CFA francs or Ugandan shillings.
Choose it before entering prices. If you change it later, Verabase warns you on the spot:

Amounts already entered are not converted. Catalogue and tariff prices, deposits and floats keep their numbers, so a ₦5,000 price would read GH₵5,000. After saving, re-enter prices in the new currency, and close any open cashier shift first. From then on, prices are typed and shown in the new currency:

Bills already raised keep the currency they were raised in, and are always shown in it:

You're done when…
- [ ] Timezone and formats match the hospital.
- [ ] The currency is set before any prices are entered.
- [ ] Clinic hours and this year's public holidays are in.
Practice task
Add the next public holiday. Check: the front desk is refused a booking on that date with its label in the message.
