FAC-OPS-02 · Laundry and linen with admission handoff
Verified in Chromium as Laundry Coordinator and Nurse on fresh synthetic demo data. Firefox layout verification remains pending.
Before you begin
Use synthetic requests for practice. The capture uses Mrs. Amina Yusuf (Laundry Coordinator), Sr. Chioma Eze (Nurse) and Sani Nwachukwu's seeded admission in Medical Ward A. VERA records the manual linen workflow. Follow the facility's physical collection, separation, processing and delivery procedures; a saved state does not measure or certify physical cleaning.
Steps
Coordinator: select the source and record instructions
- Open Operations → Laundry. For patient-specific linen, search Patient or admission (optional) by name or MRN and select the intended patient/admission. Check the ward, bed and admission date. For general unit stock, leave the search empty.
- Confirm Source unit, Quantity, Linen type and Priority. Select Contamination / isolation handling required when applicable and record the actual Handling instructions.
- Select Create linen request. Check the selected request's patient/context, quantity, instructions and requesting staff member. The new-request fields clear after saving.

Coordinator: process and deliver
- Record Mark collected, Start washing, Mark clean and Mark delivered when each event happens. Each action becomes available at the corresponding stage.
- Confirm Delivered, the saved handling instructions, delivery time and updating staff member. Reload and check that the record remains.
- A delivered request has no further processing or cancellation controls.

Coordinator: cancel an unneeded request
- Select the intended request, enter its actual Cancellation reason, then select Cancel request. An empty reason is refused.
- Check Cancelled, the saved reason and staff attribution. Reload to confirm persistence.
- Unsaved cancellation text clears when switching requests. A cancelled request cannot be processed further.

Nurse: review the admission handoff
- Open Inpatient. In Expected discharges, find the patient and select Open episode.
- In Admission linen, review the linked request, quantity, handling instructions, status, delivery time and staff attribution. Refresh linen retrieves the current record.
- This panel shows only the selected admission's linen. General unit stock and other admissions are excluded. The nurse's review does not grant laundry processing controls.

You're done when
- Linen refers to the intended patient/admission or is clearly general unit stock.
- The coordinator can see the saved handling instructions and attribution through delivery or cancellation.
- The processing stages occur in order, terminal controls disappear and unrelated drafts do not carry over.
- The nurse can review the delivered request in the correct admission, and unrelated roles cannot use laundry controls.
Evidence
Verified on 2026-10-06: capture/laundry.spec.ts passed in Chromium as Mrs. Amina Yusuf (Laundry Coordinator) and Sr. Chioma Eze (Nurse), with Front Desk refused. The rebuilt production guide stack used :3212 → :8798 and a fresh seed ending Nothing skipped. All five screenshots were opened and inspected. The walk asserts named admission selection, saved handling instructions and actors, ordered processing, persistence after reload, cleared drafts, required and retained cancellation reasons, terminal controls, and exact admission isolation in the nursing read.
Six server tests and the focused SDK lifecycle/lookup check pass; SDK type checking and the production build pass. Server coverage includes narrow lookup permissions, patient/facility/admission isolation, ward/team scope, competing updates and terminal/stale refusals. The initial 2026-10-05 walk exposed the missing named selector; the recorded laundry gaps are now fixed with Chromium evidence.
Firefox was attempted on 2026-10-06 but failed during browser launch with local sandbox/compositor errors before visiting VERA. Firefox layout verification remains pending.
The lookup returns operational identity and current location only; it does not grant general chart access. Inventory balances, barcode/RFID, vendor integrations and physical cleaning verification are outside this recorded workflow.
Practice task
Record six training bed sheets for a synthetic admission with explicit handling instructions. Complete collection through delivery, then review the same record as the nurse in that admission. Create a separate general-stock request and cancel it with a specific reason; confirm it is absent from the admission's linen list.
